Thelma and Louise were finally bustin’ loose! Sure, their
plans would only take ‘em a hop-skip-and-a-jump down the road. But they were
actually gonna go to something they planned. Snowmagedon be damned – they were
headin’ out. And ‘neither snow, nor cold…’ could keep ‘em home!
Bourbonnais Township Park District (www.btpd.org) was havin’ their annual “Wine
& Beer Tasting” festivities. Thelma and Louise walked in, and they were
laughin’ pretty hard at the fella who asked ‘em for the ID. Like people don’t
know our gals are old enough to drink?! That all done, Thelma and Louise
grabbed a glass and their tastin’ tickets and headed to the wine tables.
Many wineries with two to three samples of their wines were
representin’ Illinois, including: Galena Cellars, Illinois River Winery, August
Hill Winery, Pheasant Hollow, and Lynfred Winery. There was also a couple from
Wisconsin; it’s not just for cheese! Thelma and Louise were happy campers, for
sure, testin’ and tastin’ those glasses of liquid happiness.
After several samples, the winner-winner-chicken-dinner of
the night was “Sweet Heart Red” from Lynfred Winery in Roselle. The label said
it was an American Red Table Wine. Our gals decided it was a light, semi-sweet
concoction of red deliciousness! It was so good that Thelma and Louise used extra tickets for a second sample! (Louise even did a third!) Shoot – our
gals would have loved to have a whole glass of that there yummy “Sweet Heart
Red” to enjoy and savor the rest of the night!
Lynfred Winery is Thelma and Louise approved and is a good
destination for a road trip! They have tasting rooms in Wheeling, Wheaton, Naperville,
and at the Roselle winery. Visit them on line at www.lynfredwinery.com. You can also read the
blog written by the gals after their visit to the Roselle winery last summer at www.whineandcheeseradio.blogspot.com
